The rule
What we write is not for sale. Nobody can pay to change a guide, a fact sheet, a calculator or an opinion on this site. If we ever publish anything paid, such as a sponsored listing, it is labelled Sponsored on the page, with a note on who paid. There are no ads on this site.
How we earn
- Services you ask for. Oleg Chupryna, the construction expert behind the site, offers paid services to buyers and owners: a before-you-sign check of a new build, a snagging inspection at handover, and supervision of construction, renovation and fit-out projects. They are paid by the person who hires him. The price is agreed in writing before any work starts.
- The free first opinion is free. It costs you nothing and commits you to nothing.
Introductions to lawyers and mortgage brokers
If you ask, we introduce you to an independent lawyer or a mortgage broker who speaks your language. We tell you who they are before we share your details, and we only share them if you tick the box in the form. If a professional ever pays us for an introduction, we will say so on this page and in the form before you send it.
Why we tell you this
You should be able to judge whether anything could influence what we write. If how we earn changes, we update this page and its date.
